Co-produced by Trivium's Matthew K. Heafy, Glacial Domination marks a shift towards brutal accessibility without thawing FROZEN SOUL's trademark bleakness and ferocity. With the album's 2-song cycle, ‘Frozen Soul’ / ‘Assimilator’, inspired by John Carpenter's Antarctic sci-fi/horror classic, The Thing, frontman Chad Green and his cold crew further refine the band's unmistakable sound and vision. As modern CC albums go, this one's a grower, not a shower. But there's a lot to like in the unbeatable CC combination of ferocious performances, twisting riffs, and precise, intentional songwriting. Erik Rutan really comes into his own with atmospheric lead work, and his songs "Blood Blind" and "Drain You Empty", especially the epic doom intro of the latter, are highlights. fyeahmetal
